Maryam Ulhaq started a journey to solve a void she was feeling. Hijab shopping for special occasions was always time-consuming and restrictive. There wasn't a brand that spoke to her in an elevated way. She decided that, after her education, she would implement her vision to spread purpose and fulfillment to Muslim women through sophisticated Hijabs. After over a year of researching literally thousands of different designs and hundreds of factories, she was finally ready to share her discoveries with the world.

ABOUT MARYAM
Maryam is a Muslimah that strives to put Allah before everything. Initially, she struggled to begin wearing Hijab like many other women did in North America, because of the fear of not knowing what friends and family would think. Fast-forward years later, she now wears it every day and considers it a symbol of her identity, spirituality, and confidence. Now she is ready to share that love with everyone she possibly can. Alongside her passion for Hijabs, Maryam happily spends time with her supportive husband and beautiful baby girl, who always remind her to cherish the infinite blessings provided from her Creator.

I am proud to say where our Hijabs are designed, because of the unbelievably talented team we work with. We could not imagine Sunomi without our highly skilled clothing designers, whom we have teamed up with since 2018. Our Sunomi hijabs are produced in 2 state-of-the-art European compliant factories located in the cities of Huzhou (also known as the City of Silk) and Chenzhou (also known as the City in the Forest) China. These exact same facilities are also home to several of the largest designer brands in the world today. Scarf production has been their specializations for almost a decade. Their revolutionary manufacturing process is apparent everywhere, from precise pattern design, raw material spinning, color dye formulation, weaving of fabric rolls, computer designed printing, exact scarf cut sizing, skilled hand driven sewing, strategic packaging, and last but not least a remarkably strict quality control inspection team. We are a family owned business that requests manufacturing production in very low quantities. Every Hijab is hand inspected and every box is custom designed before leaving our home. We plan to continue in this way to make each scarf the best the most unique it can possibly be. We will never reduce our standards of quality to compete with lower end brands.
